Vote Here for the 2006 Moron Madness Challenge Tuesday, March 14, 2006Hydration Part TwoWell, last night was the first basketball game that I have played in since I've started drinking plenty of water. Let me just say that water does wonders. I was extremely sluggish last week due to lack of the H2O. But, not this week. I was full of energy and played one of my best games in awhile. I just wish we played a good team this week. They sucked ass. I start another league next week in which I'm on a team with my bosses and some other guys at work. That should be fun. Please note:This is not how I spend my everyday life walking around... I just do it to the Mrs. because it's fun to watch her freak out. Happy HNT everyone! Tuesday, March 07, 2006HydrationAfter my league basketball game ended last night, I came to a realization, an epiphany if you will, that I need to start drinking more water. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why I was so damn tired from start to finish of the game. I just felt really weak and sluggish. It was probably the worst game I had played in a long time. To make it worse, we played the team that I absolutely despise. I eventually realized that I need to drink more fluids on a daily basis. Lately, I have been exercising more than I have been since I graduated from college. There are numerous reasons why I decided to start excercising. One is because I know Mrs. Angus doesn't want to see my soggy midsection anymore. Another reason is because I am always tired anymore and I think that exercise will give me more energy. And lastly, I'm tired of not being able to give my all when I play in my basketball leagues. I've always prided myself in playing extremely hard. I'm not the most athletic person. I've always had to compensate for my athletic shortcomings with hard work. But, lately, I haven't been able to give my all. Just the mear fact that I can't play as well as I know I can is enough to drive me insane. I know I can still play at a high level, but my conditioning won't allow me to do so. Geez, I'm only 26 years old. So, lately I've been running and jumping rope to try to get back into playing shape. There are about 6 or so weeks before the league playoffs start and I figure by then, I should be in pretty good shape and I'll be able to really help my team out down the stretch. Ok, so back to my opening paragraph. I couldn't figure out why I was so damn exhausted during the game last night. At first, I thought that all the conditioning work that I was doing just wore me out. But then I realized the I hadn't been doing near enough conditioning to get me that tired. I haven't been stressed out lately, so that wouldn't have been the cause. Then I started thinking of what I ate that day, and there was nothing out of the ordinary that would lead lead me to believe that it was something I ate. Then I started thinking of what I had to drink yesterday. That's when I realized that I must have been very dehydrated, which in turn caused my sluggishness. For the entire day, I had only had a small bottle of Vault (not the most pleasant tasting drink) and a mouthful of Sierra Mist. Looking back at that, I have no clue how I even made it through that game. I was playing hard, and I barely broke a sweat, which is never a good thing. Lately, I've been pretty lax in making sure that I stay properly hydrated. Only having on small soft drink as my only form of hydration is not unusal as of late, and I know that's terrible. I have heard from Mrs. Angus and other sources numerous times that drinking the right amout of water gives you more energy and makes you healthier. I just need to dedicate myself to drink plenty of fluids every day. With that said, good bye dehydration and hello urinal (every 30 minutes).
